This period piece displays life on the 'Midtown' part of Front Street, in Philipsburg, St. Maarten, the Dutch capital of a small, two-nation island in the northeastern Caribbean, of which the 'Dutch side' is in the south. The northern half St.Martin is a French Overseas Territory. Source: Photo taken by the Royal Tropical Institute KIT in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
I am in constant awe of nature, life and the different ways we live it around the world. I'm particularly drawn to architecture, sculpture, cloud formations, coastal scenes, birds and lately, Caribbean history. I typically paint from a photo I took, and occasionally I do plein air work in colored pencil. A physicist by training, I love patterns and geometry, so my abstract works and photos reflect that.
